Established in 1996, Metcalf Crane Services was founded by Tim Metcalf.
Having operated a multitude of cranes whilst working in the construction industry, Tim pursued an opportunity presented whilst working on the Citylink Project and invested in a new IHI CCH700 70t crawler crane.
The early success of this new company with a focus on ‘Getting The Job Done’ attitude resulted in more work and a number of new cranes and staff.
Telecommunications roll-outs, roads and infrastructure projects and a growing reputation in the market place has seen staff and equipment numbers grow exponentially.
Along with steel erection, road infrastructure became a staple for Metcalf Cranes and barrier shifts necessitated the inevitable tie in with a heavy haulage division. The rapid growth of Metcalf Cranes continues with the fleet nearing thirty cranes and some twenty truck trailer combinations.
A focus on value adding for all employees has seen the addition of an in-house training capability (Cert IV Training) with MCS again exceeding industry standards.
An increased engineering capability offered further improvements in safety awareness with the introduction of our award winning counterweight access platforms (as shown above).
The addition of a 600t truck mounted mobile crane offers the business an unmatched capability.
The Demag TC2800-1 600t mobile has phenomenal lifting performance along with a portability not available in similar sized crawler cranes. Opportunities in wind farm construction, petro-chemical plants and mining environments are now reality in the Metcalf landscape.
